The Associate Degree of Applied Engineering (Renewable Energy Technologies) is a two-year degree designed to give graduates the theoretical and practical engineering skills required to design, develop, install, commission, maintain, repair and/or decommission renewable/sustainable energy technology solutions. This course addresses a rapidly evolving energy market, in which governments and corporations are adjusting their priorities to reflect environmental imperatives. The clean energy industry is forecast to expand significantly over the next decade as governments and corporations set renewable energy targets and work towards the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. The course covers the range of technologies across the renewable energy spectrum, with students choosing to specialise in either electrical or mechanical/civil engineering. Course structure To receive the Associate Degree of Applied Engineering (Renewable Energy Technologies) students must complete all core units and, if available, a range of additional units. Career opportunities By the end of the course graduates will have the knowledge and skills to apply knowledge of the engineering and renewable energy disciplines to practical applications of technology in a variety of contexts and in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements. Graduates will be able to manage available resources effectively to realise viable renewable energy projects to meet client needs in a cost effective and sustainable manner.
