Overview This course will provide skills training in permaculture for those who will be supervising permaculture works on rural and urban properties, who are working as project officers on community permaculture projects, and those seeking to become permaculture designers and/or advisors. Course Structure To receive the Certificate IV in Permaculture students must complete all core units and, if available, a range of additional units. Core Units Provide advice on permaculture principles and practices Plan and implement permaculture works Select appropriate technology for a permaculture system Identify and analyse bioregional characteristics and resources Evaluate suitability of species as solutions for permaculture applications Additional Units Design a rural permaculture system Design an urban permaculture system Design a rural permaculture system Design an urban permaculture system Design harvesting and storage systems for permaculture products Implement and monitor animal health and welfare programs for a permaculture system Manage a permaculture seed bank Recommend approaches for sustainable community and bioregional development Operate within a sustainable community and bioregional development program Operate within a permaculture aid and development program Establish a rural permaculture system Establish an urban permaculture system Cost a project Operate within a budget framework Develop community networks Manage organic livestock production Manage organic soil improvement Arrange selling through community based selling Set out conservation earthworks Develop a soil use map for a property Provide work skill instruction Career opportunities Employment as a supervisor/project coordinator in permaculture, agriculture, horticulture or land management industries.
