Course structure To receive the Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (Nutrition and Dietetics) students must complete all core units and, if available, a range of additional units. Core Units Communicate and work in health or community services Work with diverse people Manage legal and ethical compliance Recognise healthy body systems Confirm physical health status Follow safe work practices for direct client care Interpret and apply medical terminology appropriately Additional Units Assist with planning and evaluating meals and menus to meet recommended dietary guidelines Assist with the monitoring and modification of meals and menus according to individualised plans Support food services in menu and meal order processing Assist with screening and implementation of therapeutic diets Work effectively in the leisure and health industries Participate in the planning, implementation and monitoring of individual leisure and health programs Follow basic food safety practices Apply and monitor food safety requirements Promote innovation in a team environment Develop and implement a food safety program Career opportunities Nutrition assistant or dietetic assistant in areas: aged care, child care, or weight loss industries. Articulation Students who successfully complete this course are able to articulate with and receive credits for relevant units of competency from other qualifications in the Health Training Package (HLT).
