This course is for people who work or who wish to work in aged care work within a residential facility or have prior experience in aged care work who want to develop their knowledge and skills in this area. When you finish this course you will be able to work independently and undertake team leadership within aged care residential and centre-based services. Specifically, you will learn how to assess the service needs of older people with complex needs, plan and monitor service delivery, undertake relevant administrative work, plan and conduct group activities, implement and monitor Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures, conduct recreation programs for older people and organise an effective work environment. You should be aware that if clinical placement in a public or private hospital, aged care facility or medical facility is part of this course, you may need to undergo occupational screening and be vaccinated against infectious diseases. Course structure To receive the Certificate IV in Ageing Support students must complete all core units and, if available, a range of additional units.
