Course Description Terrorism, and efforts to prevent it, are reshaping the world in which we live in significant, challenging and often unexpected ways. In this course you will explore the complex causes of terrorism and political violence and gain insight into the social and political contexts in which it occurs. You will gain specialised cutting-edge knowledge of counter-terrorism in both theory and practice. Critically examining the different ways in which governments, states and societies have responded to the threat of terrorism, you will consider the effectiveness of varying approaches together with the broader implications of these for security, democracy and the rule of law.
