Course Description In this course you’ll explore the connections between what is personal and social in a global context. You’ll explore how changes in the structure of society, the material world, the economy, cultural systems of beliefs and values influence us as members of society. A degree in Sociology will give you knowledge and skills that are increasingly important in a wide range of professions and occupations. You’ll gain a broader perspective for understanding the world as you learn to think critically and creatively, apply knowledge and information, and communicate effectively. To expand your perspective, skills and career prospects even further, you can combine this course with another major such as Community Development, Global Politics and Policy, Religion, History, Australian Indigenous Studies or Communication and Media Studies. When you graduate, you’ll have developed skills in critical thinking, social research, policy analysis, and project evaluation that are crucial in numerous occupations.
