Course Description In this course you’ll explore the challenges and the changing approaches to international aid by government, multilateral organizations and non-government aid agencies. You’ll examine the key issues of reducing poverty, governance and building capacity. You’ll focus on community-level engagement and develop skills for participatory development practice and project management. You’ll gain a critical understanding of international development programs and approaches. To expand your career horizons, or refine your skills for your dream job, you can combine your International Aid and Development studies with a double major. Recommended double majors include Community Development, Global Politics and Policy or Sustainable Development. When you graduate, you’ll be suited to work in international agencies such as the United Nations, various development consultancies and non-government organizations. In Australia, you could work with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and AusAID. You might become an aid and development worker, a refugee and migrant support worker, or a teacher.
