This course focuses on the knowledge and skills required to understand the significance of conservation of biodiversity.
Students develop the ability to analyze the complex interplays between humans and the natural world, and to apply the tools of modern biology to devising approaches that tackle important conservation issues. The course covers ecology, genetics, wildlife management, animal and plant biology, evolution and the theory and practice of conservation biology.
Course Learning Outcomes
Apply broad discipline knowledge to a range of theoretical and practical conservation biology situations.

Work Experience option
Students have the opportunity to seek a semester long Work Integrated Learning placement with an industry partner relevant to the Conservation and Wildlife Biology discipline.
Employment opportunities
The strong practical focus ensures students are prepared for positions in government agencies, industries and other organizations that undertake species conservation programs, other conservation actions and manage specific ecosystems (such as wetlands, forests, coastlines and arid regions).

Biodiversity Manager, Nature Conservationist, Environmental Consultant, Botanist, Wildlife Conservation Worker, Environmental Educator, Natural Resource Officer, Biologist, Environmental Management Officer, Environmental Scientist.

Applicants must have obtained minimum of 24 points (minimum of 28 points for Law) consisting of aggregate from 3 higher level and 3 subsidiary level. English Language Requirements accepted: Academic IELTS: An overall band score of 6.0, with no individual band less than 6.0; TOEFL: Minimum score of 550, including Test of Written English of 5 or better; TOEFL iBT: Minimum score of 70, with no individual score less than 17; GCE O Levels: Grade C or better; PTE Academic: PTE Academic 52, with no scores less than 50 for courses with a current requirement; University of Cambridge [Cambridge English: Advanced]: Pre-2015: A score between 52 - 57 with no less than 'Borderline' in any element of the test. Post-2015: An overall score of 169, with no individual band less than 169; or a minimum TOEFL score of 550 including TWE of 5.
