Provides a foundation in business theory and practice for the arts industry.
The program is specifically industry-focused and designed to give students the knowledge and skills to work in a diverse range of art forms and organizations, including theatre companies, venues, dance companies, exhibitions, galleries, concerts and festivals.
By studying at WAAPA, students have opportunities for practical experience, including placements/secondments in the wider arts industry.
Course Learning Outcomes
Apply broad and coherent knowledge and skills with depth of the theories, principles and concepts of arts management.
Critically review, analyze, and synthesize knowledge in arts management to improve organizational practice.
Demonstrate initiative, judgement and creativity in planning, problem solving, and decision making through project planning for arts organizations.
Exercise creative thinking and judgement to identify and sustainably solve problems in the planning, organization, marketing, and promotion of arts management.
Recognize and reflect on social, cultural and ethical issues, and apply local and international perspectives to practice.
Successfully communicate arts management knowledge and ideas in diverse contexts, demonstrating cross-cultural awareness and including an ability to communicate and work with Aboriginal Australians.
Use digital technologies and discipline related literacies to access, evaluate and synthesize relevant information from multiple sources.
Work collaboratively on a project and apply responsibility and accountability for own learning and continued development.
Employment opportunities
It is expected that graduates from this course will possess a high level of management expertise, together with leadership abilities, human resources skills and a broad knowledge of the arts industry, which will enable them to function as arts managers in an intelligent, effective and sensitive manner. WAAPA delivers courses with a focus on employability demonstrated by the high success rate of graduates gaining meaningful employment in the industry nationally and internationally.

Applicants must have obtained minimum of 24 points (minimum of 28 points for Law) consisting of aggregate from 3 higher level and 3 subsidiary level. English Language Requirements accepted: Academic IELTS: An overall band score of 6.0, with no individual band less than 6.0; TOEFL: Minimum score of 550, including Test of Written English of 5 or better; TOEFL iBT: Minimum score of 70, with no individual score less than 17; GCE O Levels: Grade C or better; PTE Academic: PTE Academic 52, with no scores less than 50 for courses with a current requirement; University of Cambridge [Cambridge English: Advanced]: Pre-2015: A score between 52 - 57 with no less than 'Borderline' in any element of the test. Post-2015: An overall score of 169, with no individual band less than 169; or a minimum TOEFL score of 550 including TWE of 5.

All applicants are required to attend an interview. Individual interviews are conducted to provide information about the applicant's experience, motivation and goals. It is important that prospective students have an existing interest and background in the arts and a commitment to extending their knowledge in management and the arts in general.
Applications for this course are not accepted through ECU's Experience Based Entry Scheme.

Academic IELTS: An overall band score of 6.0, with no individual band less than 6.0
TOEFL: Minimum score of 550, including Test of Written English of 5 or better
TOEFL iBT: Minimum score of 70, with no individual score less than 17
GCE O Level: Grade C or better
WAUFP: 50% plus pass in ELACS
International Baccalaureate Diploma: Minimum grade 3 at higher level for an English subject, or minimum grade of 4 at standard level for an English subject
Pearson Test of English (PTE): PTE Academic 52, with no scores less than 50 for courses with a current requirement of Academic IELTS 6.0
University of Cambridge [Cambridge English: Advanced]: Post-2015: An overall score of 169, with no individual band less than 169.
Edexcel International GCSE: English Language A, English Language B, or English Literature - Grade C or above; English as a Second Language (ESL) - Grade B or above.
