专业简介
This course provides the opportunity for those with a passion in a particular subject specialisation and the desire to work with young people, to become secondary teachers.
Students study their preferred areas of specialisation concurrent with a suite of core education units that address key educational needs of young people. Students graduating from this course will have the flexibility to take up employment in both private and government secondary schools.
A key feature of the course is an emphasis on the use of Information Technology (IT) in learning and teaching. As well as gaining the professional knowledge needed to successfully incorporate IT into learning programs, teaching students develop their own IT skills, ensuring they are professionally prepared for teaching and have the confidence to promote student learning in new and innovative ways.
Health and Physical Education Major
This major equips students with the skills and knowledge to teach Years 7-12 Health and Physical Education (HPE).
It addresses the broader field of HPE and focuses on health and well-being, and movement and physical activity appropriate for contemporary secondary schools.
Learning Outcomes
Analyse and implement knowledge and skills in diverse contexts to create positive learning environments in health and physical education.
Communicate knowledge and ideas clearly in both written and oral formats.
Critically reflect using accredited standards and mentor feedback, to plan for continued collaborative and autonomous professional learning and development.
Demonstrate broad and coherent knowledge in depth regarding the Australian curriculum and teaching strategies for secondary health and physical education.
Demonstrate initiative and exercise professional judgement and collaborate to plan, problem solves and makes decisions in health and physical education.
Exercise critical thinking and judgement to identify and solve problems.
Review, analyze and synthesize knowledge of pedagogical practices to plan for the delivery of health and physical education teaching.
Structure
Students must complete 10 Content units and 2 Curriculum units. Content units educate students in the subject area and the Curriculum units explain how to teach the subject area to others.
Employment Opportunities
Graduates will be eligible to seek employment in both government and non-government secondary schools teaching Health and Physical Education.

Applicants must have obtained minimum of 24 points (minimum of 28 points for Law) consisting of aggregate from 3 higher level and 3 subsidiary level. English Language Requirements accepted: Academic IELTS: An overall band score of 6.0, with no individual band less than 6.0; TOEFL: Minimum score of 550, including Test of Written English of 5 or better; TOEFL iBT: Minimum score of 70, with no individual score less than 17; GCE O Levels: Grade C or better; PTE Academic: PTE Academic 52, with no scores less than 50 for courses with a current requirement; University of Cambridge [Cambridge English: Advanced]: Pre-2015: A score between 52 - 57 with no less than 'Borderline' in any element of the test. Post-2015: An overall score of 169, with no individual band less than 169; or a minimum TOEFL score of 550 including TWE of 5.

If you have a Bachelors degree or equivalent, you can apply for entry to a Masters by coursework or a Masters by research degree.
If you don't have a Bachelors degree, but can show that you have at least 5 years professional experience that's relevant to an ECU course, you can apply to study a Graduate Certificate.
All applicants are required to provide a personal statement. In addition to satisfying academic entry criteria, applicants for pre-service teacher education courses at Edith Cowan University must also satisfy non-academic criteria. At Edith Cowan University, applicants' non-academic capabilities will be judged based on the submission of a 500 word personal statement. In this statement applicants will outline why they wish to become a teacher.
English Minimum Requirements
Students must attain an Academic IELTS with an average level of 7.5 or more, across the four components of listening, speaking, reading and writing; no score below level 7.0 in any of these components; and, a score of 8.0 or more in the components of speaking and listening.
TOEFL: Minimum score of 550, including Test of Written English of 5 or better
TOEFL iBT: Minimum score of 70, with no individual score less than 17
GCE O Level: Grade C or better
WAUFP: 50% plus pass in ELACS
International Baccalaureate Diploma: Minimum grade 3 at higher level for an English subject, or minimum grade of 4 at standard level for an English subject
Pearson Test of English (PTE): PTE Academic 52, with no scores less than 50 for courses with a current requirement of Academic IELTS 6.0
University of Cambridge [Cambridge English: Advanced]: Post-2015: An overall score of 169, with no individual band less than 169.
Edexcel International GCSE: English Language A, English Language B, or English Literature - Grade C or above; English as a Second Language (ESL) - Grade B or above.
