Designed to provide the paramedic with the necessary knowledge and skills for a career as an Extended Care Paramedic.
The course focuses on the clinical issues directly related to practice, and develops a greater depth of understanding of primary healthcare to enhance clinical decision-making and critical thinking. Students will learn advanced-level clinical knowledge to apply to their daily paramedical practice, while at the same time learning advanced skills in evidence-based practice and research.
The advanced clinical knowledge and skills provides students with the ability to continuously improve their own clinical practice, as well as impact on the organization they are employed by and the broader healthcare community.
Course Learning Outcomes
Apply cognitive, technical and creative skills to investigate and evaluate complex ideas, concepts and theories in authentic extended care Paramedical contexts.
Communicate specialized medical and paramedical knowledge, research principles and methods to demonstrate a high level of extended care Paramedicine.
Use self-management skills to initiate, appraise and operate in complex extended care Paramedicine professional environments.

Graduates of this program will be well-placed to take on the clinical leadership challenges of the Extended Care Paramedic.

Applicants must have completed a Bachelor degree; or Equivalent prior learning including at least five years relevant professional experience. English Language Requirements accepted: Academic IELTS: An overall band score of 6.5, with no individual band less than 6.0; TOEFL: Minimum score of 573, including Test of Written English of 5 or better; TOEFL iBT: Minimum score of 84, with no individual score less than 17; PTE Academic 58, with no score less than 50 for postgraduate standard entry courses; University of Cambridge [Cambridge English: Advanced]: Pre-2015: A score between 58 - 66 with no less than 'Borderline' in any element of the test. Post-2015: An overall score of 176, with no individual band less than 169.

All applicants are required to have a Bachelor's degree in Paramedicine, with equivalents considered. Alternatively applicants can apply with equivalent prior learning including at least five years appropriate professional experience.
