This course offers conceptual foundations in the practice of individual psychodynamic counselling and systemic couples and family therapy.
The course provides first applied knowledge of counselling case management.
Course Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate a theoretical knowledge and first applied knowledge of counselling/psychotherapy case management
Demonstrate advanced foundation knowledge of various psychodynamic and systemic couples and family therapy theoretical frameworks
Demonstrate currency with the theory of psychoanalytic technique as it pertains to individual counselling, including applied knowledge of the concepts transference and countertransference
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of ethical frameworks for counselling
Outline key principles of systemic theory to understanding couples and family functioning
Employment opportunities
Students completing this offering will be eligible for entry level counselling roles in human and social services, NGOs and the like.

Applicants must have completed a Bachelor degree; or Equivalent prior learning including at least five years relevant professional experience. English Language Requirements accepted: Academic IELTS: An overall band score of 6.5, with no individual band less than 6.0; TOEFL: Minimum score of 573, including Test of Written English of 5 or better; TOEFL iBT: Minimum score of 84, with no individual score less than 17; PTE Academic 58, with no score less than 50 for postgraduate standard entry courses; University of Cambridge [Cambridge English: Advanced]: Pre-2015: A score between 58 - 66 with no less than 'Borderline' in any element of the test. Post-2015: An overall score of 176, with no individual band less than 169.
