Enhance your leadership career in the public service
This course is co-designed by leading academics and senior administrators who are currently involved in the study and practice of 21st century governance. That means you'll be gathering a fairly impressive list of core professional skills in the areas of public management, policy analysis and leadership.
You'll be able to boost your ethical research skills by undertaking a dissertation project and enhance your career opportunities at both the national and sub-national levels of the public services sector. Now that's good policy.
Study a Master of Public Administration at UC and you will:

Knowledge of key governance debates in the academic and grey literatures.
A critical understanding of the central concepts relating to public administration, public management and public policy.
Awareness of the strengths, weaknesses and suitability of selected quantitative and qualitative methods for gathering data.
Written and verbal communication skills to engage in informed debates of public sector issues.
Undertake primary research both within a collaborative team based framework and independently.
Research skills as evidenced by the dissertation project output.

Applicants must have a bachelor qualification, or equivalent, in a related field or Bachelor qualification, or equivalent, in an unrelated field and three years' work experience or Bachelor qualification, or equivalent, in an unrelated field and Graduate Certificate in Business or higher. English language requirements: International English Language Testing System (IELTS): 6.0 with no band score below 6.0; Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): IBT - Overall score of 60 with no skill score below: R3: 16, L: 15, S: 18, W: 22; Pearson Test of English (PTE): Academic - 50 with no skill score below 50; Cambridge English Scale (CES) - 169 with no individual sub-score below 169; Occupational English Test (OET) - No grade lower than 'C' in any of the sub-tests.

Applicants must have a degree or equivalent as approved by the University's Admissions Committee and not less than 2 years of relevant work experience OR an Honours degree or equivalent as approved by the University's Admissions Committee prior to admission.
Assumed Knowledge
Essential knowledge: A good working knowledge of the public sector; commitment and the ability to contribute to class learning, to learn from others and to share learning in the workplace; strong commitment to career development and to a career in the public or third sectors; and capacity to complete a rigorous master's program. Desirable but not essential knowledge would include some familiarity with fundamental theories and concepts underpinning effective performance in public sector management and policy development, a good feel for the difficulties of delivering results in government and experience of applying theory and analysing data to solve real world management and policy problems.
