Why enrol in the Direct Entry English Pathway (DEEP)? If you do not meet the English language or literacy requirements for admission to Massey University, you should consider enrolling in the Direct Entry English Pathway (DEEP). Successful completion of this 16-week programme will give you the Foundation Certificate in Academic English and direct entry into undergraduate study. If you have not met the academic requirements for admission, you can pathway from DEEP into either the Certificate in Foundation Studies or the Certificate in University Preparation. DEEP provides you with the academic English and study skills necessary for success in your undergraduate study at Massey University. Successful completion of the qualification means that you do not need to sit an external English test at the end of the course. You must have a conditional offer for your next programme of study for entry to DEEP. Courses The Foundation Certificate in Academic English (DEEP) is comprised of four courses designed to develop the academic reading, writing and language skills necessary for successful undergraduate study. To successfully complete the certificate you must pass the following courses and achieve the grade required for admission to the next programme of study: 192.020 Academic Reading and Writing I 192.021 Language Skills for Academic Study I 192.022 Academic Reading and Writing II 192.023 Language Skills for Academic Study II Students must pass 192.020 before enrolling in 192.022, and must pass 192.021 before enrolling in 192.023. Pathway Successful completion of the Foundation Certificate in Academic English (DEEP) requires passes in all four courses and achievement of the overall grade required for admission to the next programme of study, as stated in the letter of offer.
