The Science Foundation Year provides a scientific background customised to your needs, helping you to progress to the subsequent years of a degree programme at Keele. An extensive choice of modules is available from the life, physical, geographical and environmental sciences; mathematics; computing and psychology. A Science Foundation Year allows progression for you to study a degree in Neuroscience. You’ll discover how we learn and remember, how our brains control our body, and how the brain regenerates and repairs itself. You could study interesting disciplines such as neuroanatomy, neuropharmacology and neuropathology. Single honours Neuroscience enables you to focus your studies on an in-depth coverage of a wide range of Neuroscience topics. If you choose dual honours Neuroscience you will combine the key principals of Neuroscience with the ability to choose specific areas of the subject that may interest you. Working in diverse ways, including in our superb labs, you’ll develop your independent research skills as you learn to acquire, interpret and analyse data from multiple sources. You’ll also understand how neuroscience can help us understand medical problems and improve the quality of life. In 2016, Keele University were recognised nationally as 1st for employability in the Destination of Leavers from Higher Education survey. Your degree will open up exciting careers in sectors as varied as healthcare, scientific research, pharmacology, IT, publishing and more. You might choose to work as a research scientist in academia or the drug industry, or work as a clinical neuroscientist in the hospital sector. With or without further study, you might go on to become a clinical psychologist, psychiatrist, doctor, pharmacologist or systems analyst.
