Accounting and Business Management at Keele University combines all aspects of business studies with financial planning and decision-making. You will learn about techniques, concepts and debates in organisational behaviour, financial and management accounting, marketing and human resource management. You will build your understanding of business strategy, behaviour and performance in the global context. Our computer laboratories, equipped with Bloomberg terminals and Sage accounting software, allow you to prepare, analyse and interpret accounting data using real world examples. You can complement this practical experience by opting for a placement year between your second and third year of study, providing an excellent starting point for your career after Keele. Our programme is recognised by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA); global professional accountancy bodies offering internationally recognised professional qualifications in financial and management accounting, and it offers a number of important exemptions from their professional exams. This means the programme offers a stepping stone if you want to pursue a career in accountancy, but it also provides a solid grounding for those who prefer to follow other business and management related careers.You could choose a career in the commercial, public or charitable sectors. With or without further study, you might eventually work as a management or IT consultant, investment analyst, chartered management accountant, banker, financial advisor or statistician, or in the civil service or in marketing or sales.
