Economics and Politics are of vital importance to each of us in our daily lives because they concern fundamental choices about the ways in which resources are allocated, societies are organised and the way in which we are governed. For this reason, Economics and Politics have always been long-established and closely related disciplines at Keele. Our approach is to analyse established theories against current issues, policies and problems using the latest techniques and technology. You will use professional software tools such as Bloomberg and Sage in our dedicated computer laboratory to analyse and interpret data. This approach to learning means you will combine theoretical analysis with up-to-date knowledge about current issues. You will also have the opportunity to put your learning into practice by taking a placement year between years two and three of your studies, something that will help you refine your analytical and technical skills for employment after graduation. An Economics and Politics degree from Keele will open up a range of opportunities in business and government. Graduates might take up careers as economists, perhaps in the City or with the prestigious Government Economic Service. They might work in commerce and industry, in education or in local government. With or without further study, you might go into banking, insurance, accounting, management consultancy, or the NHS, for example. You might work as an investment analyst, statistician or financial adviser.  Many of our students go on to further postgraduate studies.
