Chemists develop and improve both natural and artificial products including the water we drink, the food we eat and the clothes we wear. They work with fuels, air and atmosphere, materials and polymers, forensics and medicines. From using a tube of toothpaste in the morning to the invention of life-changing medications to ensuring the environmental safety of an oil rig: we encounter the work of chemists in every direction we look. Our laboratory-based training gives you the opportunity to be a part of the next generation of chemistry. Where can Chemistry take me? Chemistry really can take you anywhere you wish to go. Our graduates work in areas such as analytical and environmental chemistry, molecular genetics, biology, nanotechnology, medicinal chemistry, drug design and development, energy, nutrition, sustainability and new technologies in materials science and communication industries. If you choose not to pursue research, our undergraduate science degree will teach you problem solving, creative thinking, report writing and many other transferable skills that will make you employable in a number of professions. Further study options If you're an undergraduate with a strong academic record and an appropriate major, Honours in Chemistry awaits. Your Honours year will give you the chance to combine coursework and research in a specialized area of study. Complete the Honours program with high grades to qualify for entry into the Masters by Research program or direct entry into the PhD program.
