In this major we look at the problems of poverty and environmental degradation and investigate how socio-cultural, economic, historical, political and environmental factors shape our world.
You'll learn to identify political strategies and synergies to achieve the potentially conflicting goals of human development and environmental sustainability. You'll also have the opportunity to work off campus so you gain the skills and experience you need to succeed in the workplace.

The skills you’ll acquire from an arts degree are transferable across many professions. Whether in government, the non-profit sector or private enterprise, organizations everywhere place a high value on people who can think independently, understand complex problems and express themselves clearly.
Recent La Trobe Arts graduates have gone on to become journalists at the ABC, advisers to federal cabinet ministers, adviser to the Parliamentary Secretary of Australia and multimedia coordinator at the Carlton Football Club.

Entry into a Bachelor Degree program at La Trobe University requires completion of Australian Year 12 with certain grade. Students from other countries should have country specific requirements equivalent to Australia.
Subject prerequisites
Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or 20 in any other English.
