专业简介
A double degree of Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws gives you exposure to multiple disciplines, increasing your employability. The Bachelor of Arts degree allows you to study across several skill and knowledge-bases in many different fields of study with plenty of flexibility. By combining this with a Bachelor of Laws, your opportunities for employment will expand, as well as the areas of possible employment. By completing a double degree, you will graduate sooner than if you were to complete two separate degrees.
The different areas of law you will explore throughout the degree include criminal law, legal conflict and resolution and legal professional practice and ethics. This is then combined with Arts major of your choice.
When graduating with a double degree, you will receive a separate testament (official certificate) for each degree.
Professional accreditation
The Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws has been accredited by the Legal Practitioners Admissions Board, Queensland, and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Queensland as an approved academic qualification under the Supreme Court (Legal Practitioner Admission) Rules 2004 (Qld). This will partially satisfy the requirements to practice as a solicitor or barrister in Queensland, or as a legal practitioner elsewhere in Australia. Intending solicitors and barristers must also complete an approved practical legal training course in order to become admitted to practice. USQ law graduates have the option of completing their practical legal training through a one-year traineeship in a law practice, or through another institution that offers a practical legal training qualification.
Career outcomes
As a graduate with a double degree, your career opportunities are extensive and vary widely depending on your chosen majors. Career opportunities through this double degree may include private practice solicitor or barrister, government departments, non-government agencies, legal organizations, journalist, public relations practitioner, media companies or as a communications consultant.
