The Master of Micro-Nano Engineering consists of 192 credit points. After completing 96 credit points of study approved by the Program Manager, you may exit with a graduate diploma.
Specialisation
This Master’s degree offers you two opportunities to specialise, culminating in a major project in your final year.
MicroNano Electronics (design and basic fabrication)
Training in semiconductor, electronic, digital system and circuit design and fabrication is central to this stream.
MicroNano Systems (fundamentals and specialised fabrication)
In this stream, you‘ll be provided with the knowledge and skills to design, model, micro-fabricate and interface microsystem devices such as optics and sensors.

Graduates are prepared for careers in the design of devices or systems employing micro-nano engineering fabrication techniques and in the development or management of fabrication facilities in either a research or manufacturing context.
Potential areas of employment include the semiconductor industry or the rapidly emerging area of biomedical device engineering.
Further study
Opportunities may exist for graduates of this Master’s program to utilize the specialized knowledge gained and undertake a PhD (Electrical and Electronic Engineering).

Applicants must have completed a bachelor degree requiring at least four years of full-time study in a relevant discipline awarded with honours. The degree should include a research component comprised of a thesis, other research projects or research methodology courses that constitute at least 25% of a full-time academic year (or part-time equivalent). The applicant must have achieved at least a distinction average in the final year; or a master degree that includes a research component comprised of at least 25% of a full-time academic year (or part-time equivalent) with an overall distinction average or a master degree without a research component with at least a high distinction average. English Language Requirements: IELTS (Academic): 6.5 (no band less than 6.0); TOEFL (Paper Based Test) score of 580 (TWE* 4.5); TOEFL (Internet Based Test – iBT): Overall score 92 with minimum of 20 in all sections; Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE (A)): 58 (no communication band less than 50); Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE): 176 with no less than 169 in any component.

An Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent overseas qualification) in engineering (computer, electronic, telecommunications, communications, network, electrical, biomedical, chemical, mechanical, and materials engineering) or Science (materials science or nanotechnology) with a minimum GPA of 2.5 (out of 4.0)
Or
If you have a GPA between 2.0 and 2.5, you may also be considered if you have at least two years' relevant work experience in industry.
English language requirements
To study this program you will need to complete one of the following English proficiency tests:
IELTS (Academic): minimum overall band of 6.5 (with no individual band below 6.0)
TOEFL (Paper Based Test): minimum score of 580 (TWE 4.5)
TOEFL (Internet Based Test - IBT): minimum overall score of 92 (with minimum of 20 in all sections)
Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE (A)): minimum score of 58 (with no communication band less than 50)
