This program deepens your knowledge of taxation, corporate law, and financial reporting and allows you to demonstrate your understanding of accounting practices through industry-based projects. You will also have opportunities to use the RMIT Practice Firm and work with students across the globe. The program is suited to students who enjoy problem solving, working on analytical projects and working within teams. Electives and program structure You will study 14 core and elective courses covering taxation, corporate law and an organization’s financial performance. Career Graduates can expect to be employed in accounting, accounting-support or accounting technician roles in the financial services and other industries. Typical responsibilities may include preparing tax returns, maintaining accounting and control systems, and recording and compiling summaries of financial transactions for reporting and management and business performance purposes. This program contains coursework that contributes to, but does not fulfill, educational requirements for providing tax agent services. With further study, Advanced Diploma graduates can become a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA). Accountants are either employed by commercial and industrial enterprises or in public accounting firms. Public accountants are often self-employed or work in partnership with other accountants. Further study When you successfully complete the Advanced Diploma of Accounting you are guaranteed entry into a range of other RMIT programs.
