The Master of Psychology offers you the necessary training to become a professional psychologist. It is oriented towards cognitive-behavioral psychology and you'll be trained and expected to work according to the scientist-professional model.
RMIT provides training in clinical psychology and has research expertise in the areas of clinical and health psychology, behavioral neuroscience, lifespan developmental psychology, and cross-cultural psychology. New areas of research include chronic disease and the ageing population.

International student visa holders can only study full-time.

The program consists of 192 credit points. The main areas of focus in psychology at RMIT are:

The Master of Psychology is divided into coursework, clinical training and research.

Applicants must have completed a bachelor degree requiring at least four years of full-time study in a relevant discipline awarded with honours. The degree should include a research component comprised of a thesis, other research projects or research methodology courses that constitute at least 25% of a full-time academic year (or part-time equivalent). The applicant must have achieved at least a distinction average in the final year; or a master degree that includes a research component comprised of at least 25% of a full-time academic year (or part-time equivalent) with an overall distinction average or a master degree without a research component with at least a high distinction average. English Language Requirements: IELTS (Academic): 6.5 (no band less than 6.0); TOEFL (Paper Based Test) score of 580 (TWE* 4.5); TOEFL (Internet Based Test – iBT): Overall score 92 with minimum of 20 in all sections; Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE (A)): 58 (no communication band less than 50); Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE): 176 with no less than 169 in any component.

Successful completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) approved fourth year of study in psychology (Honours or Graduate Diploma in Psychology) with an average of at least 80%.
Applicants with international qualifications must have these assessed by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) as equivalent to a fourth year of study in psychology.
English language requirements
To study this program you will need to complete one of the following English proficiency tests:
IELTS (Academic): minimum overall band of 8.0 (with no individual band below 8.0); TOEFL (Internet Based Test (iBT) - overall score 110 (with minimum score of 27 in Reading, 27 in Listening, 24 in Speaking and 29 in Writing); Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE (A)) - 79 (no communication band less than 72); Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) - 200 with no less than 191 in any component; Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE) - 200 with no less than 191 in each component.
