The Business Information Technology Project gives you the opportunity to analyse, design, and build a business information systems solution under normal business conditions.
Choose an elective from management, information systems, logistics or computer science to match your career goals.
Explore a complex problem, and test and evaluate potential solutions with industry and community stakeholders in the course Business Research Design.
It is recommended that you follow the sequence of courses presented in the enrolment structure.
Career
Through the combination of business and IT studies, this program is designed to produce ethically and socially responsible professionals who can draw on technical and leadership capabilities, effective communication skills, innovative professional practices, and strategic and organizational skills to create successful business information systems solutions excel in the areas of business analysis, IT consultancy and project management.
Graduates may work in a range of industry sectors including health, retail, banking, farming, teaching, transport, manufacturing, publishing, telecommunications, education and libraries.
Potential roles in the public and private sectors include:
ICT manager or consultant
chief information officer
e-business and e-procurement manager
business and systems analyst
systems management analyst
database administrator
IT project manager
web developer
systems architect
IT contract manager.
You may also work as an independent broker or consultant or in electronic document management, applying your skills in litigation support, health and welfare, public administration and a variety of industry groups.
Further study
Upon successful completion of this program, you may be eligible for entry into an RMIT Masters by Research or Doctoral (PhD) program.

Applicants must have completed a bachelor degree requiring at least four years of full-time study in a relevant discipline awarded with honours. The degree should include a research component comprised of a thesis, other research projects or research methodology courses that constitute at least 25% of a full-time academic year (or part-time equivalent). The applicant must have achieved at least a distinction average in the final year; or a master degree that includes a research component comprised of at least 25% of a full-time academic year (or part-time equivalent) with an overall distinction average or a master degree without a research component with at least a high distinction average. English Language Requirements: IELTS (Academic): 6.5 (no band less than 6.0); TOEFL (Paper Based Test) score of 580 (TWE* 4.5); TOEFL (Internet Based Test – iBT): Overall score 92 with minimum of 20 in all sections; Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE (A)): 58 (no communication band less than 50); Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE): 176 with no less than 169 in any component.

You must have successfully completed an Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent overseas qualification) or higher level qualification in any discipline.
1.5 year duration
You must have successfully completed:
An Australian Bachelor degree, Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma or Master’s degree (or equivalent overseas qualification) in Business (or a related discipline).
OR
An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent overseas qualification) in any discipline and a minimum of three years full-time equivalent management experience.
English language requirements
To study this program you will need to complete one of the following English proficiency tests:
IELTS (Academic): minimum overall band of 6.5 (with no individual band below 6.0)
TOEFL (Paper Based Test): minimum score of 580 (TWE 4.5)
TOEFL (Internet Based Test - IBT): minimum overall score of 92 (with minimum of 20 in all sections)
Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE (A)): minimum score of 58 (with no communication band less than 50)
Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): minimum of 176 with no less than 169 in any component
