This program can be studied worldwide through Open Universities Australia (OUA).
Build a solid foundation in programming and information technology (IT), while studying non-IT topics that match your interests to create your own degree.
This course is designed to give you a foundation in programming and information technology fundamentals, while also offering the chance to engage with topics outside the realm of information technology.
Core subjects include introduction to IT, programming, database systems, software engineering, web programming and professional computing practice.
You must do a minimum of 65 per cent computer science and IT courses with the rest drawn from courses in related discipline areas including:
accounting and law
applied communication
economics
finance and marketing
entrepreneurship
logistics
management
statistics
CISCO networking
This is a degree of choice for those who want a professional IT degree that does not rely on software and IT development.

Pathway options
When you successfully complete the Associate Degree in Information Technology and achieve a minimum GPA of 2.0, you are guaranteed entry in the Bachelor of Technology (Computing Studies) and may receive four semesters of advanced standing (equivalent to 192 credit points).
Alternatively, you can gain entry from RMIT Foundation Studies or a range of vocational study programs.
Further study
When you successfully complete this program, you may be eligible for entry into an RMIT Honours or Postgraduate program.

Applicants must have obtained a score of 25 - 31. Applicants must have completed a recognized equivalent Year 12 studies program to the required standard. English Language Requirements: IELTS (Academic): 6.5 (no band less than 6.0); TOEFL (Paper Based Test) score of 580 (TWE* 4.5); TOEFL (Internet Based Test – iBT): Overall score 92 with minimum of 20 in all sections; Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE (A)): 58 (no communication band less than 50); Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE): 176 with no less than 169 in any component.
