Our double degree is the only one in Australia that combines financial planning and accounting to develop your abilities to provide business, finance and wealth advice to individuals and organizations. The double degree is concerned with producing graduates with the knowledge and skills to have a successful career in professional services, specifically in the provision of business, financial and wealth advisory services. Your specialized studies in accounting, financial planning and wealth management will introduce you to the regulatory and global influences relevant to the financial services industry, and develop your understanding of accounting, financial planning, financial products, risk management and investment strategies that are essential to providing financial and accounting services to clients. In addition, you will have the option to undertake a six month internship to apply your technical knowledge and analytical skills. While developing specialist knowledge necessary to operate successfully in contemporary business and multidisciplinary environments, the program prepares students to provide holistic and integrated business, financial and wealth advice to the highest level of ethical and professional standards. Electives and program structure The program consists of 32 courses (each 12 credit points, or equivalent) and includes: 8 compulsory common business core courses 8 accountancy major courses 8 financial planning major courses 4 specialist courses 4 electives Career family and personal wealth advisory services superannuation insurance taxation banking and financial services investment and portfolio management organizational governance and accountability auditing and assurance cost and management accounting business and financial management funds management risk management. Pathway options You are guaranteed entry into the Bachelor of Business (Financial Planning) / Bachelor of Business (Accountancy) from a range of RMIT programs. Successful completion and the grades you achieve determine the amount of credit you will receive. When you successfully complete the Associate Degree in Business, you will receive 3 semesters of advanced standing (equivalent to 156 credit points). If you achieve a minimum GPA of 2.0 in the following programs you are guaranteed entry with credit: Advanced Diploma of Accounting – you will receive 3 semesters of advanced standing (equivalent to 168 credit points) Advanced Diploma of International Business – you will receive 2 semesters of advanced standing (equivalent to 108 credit points) Diploma of Commerce – you will receive 2 semesters of advanced standing (equivalent to 96 credit points) Diploma of Information Technology – you will receive 1 semester of advanced standing (equivalent to 60 credit points) Diploma of Financial Services – you will receive 1 semester of advanced standing (equivalent to 48 credit points) Alternatively, you can gain entry from RMIT Foundation Studies or a range of Vocational study programs. Further study When you successfully complete this program you may be eligible for entry into the Bachelor of Business (Honours). Alternatively, you may be eligible for entry into other RMIT honours or other postgraduate programs.
