Engineering research at Bristol is organised into a number of faculty-level research groups. The majority of staff in the Department of Mechanical Engineering are members of one of the following research groups:
Dynamics and Control
Solid Mechanics
Engineering Systems and Design
Ultrasonics and Non-destructive Testing
Robotics
Fluid and Aerodynamics.
Mechanical Engineering PhD graduates are found in a variety of careers all over the globe, including world-leading research. Many work as consultants or as part of large-scale engineering industries.

The standard requirement for entry to a taught masters programme at Bristol is an undergraduate (Bachelor) degree that is equivalent to a UK Upper Second Class degree (also known as a 2:1). Applicants who hold a 4-year Bachelor (Honours) degree with a minimum of 80% will be considered for admission to a Masters degree.

Students whose first language is not English need to have IELTS Academic from non-authorised test centres with 6.5 overall, minimum 6.0 in all bands.
