专业简介
The Major in Politics and International Studies enables students to develop an understanding of the main political issues, institutions, ideas, policies and actors that dominate local, national and international agendas. It includes the study of identity and community, power and how it is exercised and contested, democracy, the state and state system, governance beyond and below the state, public policy, political movements, war and conflict and conflict-resolution. The Major offers subjects on these themes from a variety of perspectives in political science, including international relations, public policy, political theory, political economy, comparative politics, Australian politics, indigenous studies, regional studies and feminism and gender studies, as well as subjects on research methods.

This major includes the study of themes and debates from a variety of perspectives that include: democracy, identity, gender, the media, terrorism, policy-making, international conflict and cooperation, and the many faces of power including how it is exercised and contested.
The majority of Arts Majors require 100 points of study for attainment. This means out of the 300 point program, you have the opportunity to achieve two Majors in your course. Along with this, the Faculty of Arts offers a variety of Breadth Subjects designed to enhance your learning with options from a variety of fields.
Students completing a Major in Politics and International Studies must complete:
One Level 1 subject
One Arts Foundation subject (MULT10018 Power highly recommended)
One Level 2 Compulsory subject
25 points in Level 2 Elective subjects
One Level 3 Compulsory Capstone subject
25 points in Level 3 Elective subjects
Students completing a Minor in Politics and International Studies must complete:
One Level 1 subject
One Arts Foundation subject (MULT10018 Power highly recommended)
25 points in Level 2 Elective subjects (with a recommendation of completing MULT20003)
25 points in Level 3 Elective subjects

GOVERNMENT
Studying a major in politics and international studies can launch your career in the political arena, where you can work in policy and development, and government and diplomacy or in international organisations such as the United Nations.
BUSINESS
Your knowledge of global affairs could also make you an attractive candidate for roles in multinational business, where you’ll tactfully negotiate agreements..
NOT FOR PROFIT SECTOR
You could work in politics to represent the views and ideologies of your community, or work for a local, national or international non-government organisation covering issues such as human rights, environmental protection or trade and development.

To be eligible for entry to an undergraduate degree you must fulfill all of the following requirements: Complete the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or an equivalent Australian or overseas qualification like Australian Year 12, Trinity College Foundation Studies, GCE 'A' Levels, International Baccalaureate. English language requirements: TOEFL - Paper based test - a score of 577 or more including a score of 4.5 in the Test of Written English. Internet based test - a score of 79 and scores of: Writing: 21, Speaking: 18, Reading: 13, Listening 13. IELTS (Academic) - an overall band score of 6.5 or more in the Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS), with no bands less than 6.0. Pearson Test of English (Academic) - an overall score of between 58-64 inclusive and achieve no PTE communicative skills score below 50. Cambridge English: Advanced/Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) - A Cambridge English Score of 176 with no skill below 169.
