With so many options to choose from, the Bachelor of Science degree (BSc) is your opportunity to create a good foundation for your study in the Earth, Chemical, Computational, Human, Life, Mathematical and Physical Sciences. If you have a mind for science and you’re keen to keep your options open, then the BSc is the degree for you. With many undergraduate majors in a wide range of subject areas, the BSc will allow you to incorporate different areas of interest and expertise. As well as strongly emphasising transferable skills to improve your employment opportunities, this programme will expose you to cutting-edge technologies and provide a gateway to independent research. Throughout your undergraduate degree you’ll be taught by knowledgeable scientists, many of whom are major contributors in their field. Beginning your BSc in 2019 We're making some changes to our BSc from 2019. It will still have the same flexibility and you'll still be able to choose from a wide range of subject areas, but you'll also add a capstone course to your programme. The capstone course is student-led, and it's your opportunity to integrate and apply your learning to a real-world problem in your chosen subject area. We're also excited to offer two new subject areas: Geographic Information Science and Green Chemical Science. BSc programme structure from 2019 To complete a BSc degree you need to pass courses totalling 360 points. Each course is worth 15 points, and you must complete the requirements for one or more majors, or one specialisation. You must also complete a capstone course, worth 15 points, for your chosen major or specialisation. Major: a subject area that makes up about a third of your courses Specialisation: a subject that makes up about half of your courses Capstone course: a student-led project where you integrate and apply your learning to a real-world problem in your chosen major or specialisation Applied Mathematics is an essential part of the development of advances in science and technology. Subject overview Applied Mathematics provides you with the skills to develop theories and methods that investigate and explain phenomena in the world around us, including in science, engineering, business and industry. Applied Mathematics interacts with other disciplines and makes essential contributions to science, engineering, medicine and commerce, as well as to many important contemporary areas of technology such as communication, linguistics, genetics and climate science. Where can Applied Mathematics take you? Graduate study in mathematics can enable you to indulge your academic enthusiasm or satisfy your intellectual curiosity, at the same time providing you with advanced knowledge and problem-solving skills applicable in any number of fields.

为来自中国的学生设计 Applicants must have an appropriate undergraduate degree with a minimum average grade of ‘B’ or higher in the final-year prerequisite courses at a recognised institution. Consult faculty guidelines for the grades required. Other English Language Requirements accepted: overall score of 575 plus Essay (TWE) of 4.5 in Paper-based TOEFL; CAE score of 58 or higher, no individual language skill below borderline; CPE score of 45 or higher; PTE overall score of 65 and no PTE communicative skills score below 58; score of 85 in Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB). 国际学生入学条件 Secondary school qualifications You need to have one of the following: International Baccalaureate Diploma with a minimum total score of 24. General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level. You must have completed a minimum of three A-Level subjects with at least a 'C' grade or higher. General Studies or similar general papers cannot be included. GCE ‘A’ Level requirements apply to ‘A’ Level qualifications examined by bodies such as AQA, OCR, Edexcel, WJEC, CCEA, Pearson Education Limited and CIE taken outside of New Zealand. IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 6.0 and no bands below 5.5; Internet-based TOEFL (iBT): Overall score of 80 and a written score of 21; Paper-based TOEFL: Overall score of 550 and an Essay (TWE) of 4.5; Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE): Overall score of 169 and no bands below 162; Foundation Certificate in English for Academic Purposes (FCertEAP): Grade of C-; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: Overall score of 50 and no PTE Communicative score below 42; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): 80.
