WHAT IS IT LIKE?

A report by Absolute IT showed that IT employers are seeking increasing numbers of staff. In Auckland alone 75% of IT employers are planning to recruit additional staff and contractors in 2016. The majority of the hiring is taking place because of increased demand and new projects.
The research showed that high demand areas are now software development, business analysis, project management and data/database. These are the key areas of information sciences you can study at Massey.
Complete in a shorter time-frame
Massey University’s Master of Science is a 180 credit master qualification (a 240 credit MSc is also available). The 180 credit masters offers a rigorous programme of learning yet can be achieved in one and a half years.

Structure
You will follow a parts-based programme of study, which shall consist of courses totalling at least 180 credits, comprising Part One and Part Two as defined by the Courses Schedule.
Requirements
A master’s qualification is made up of two parts. The first part gives you good knowledge and skills that will help you with the research part of your qualification. You must pass Part One before you can progress to Part Two.
For progression to Part Two of the Master of Science, a B Grade Average is needed for the Part One courses.

An appropriate undergraduate degree from a recognised tertiary institution is required. English Language Requirements: IELTS - 6.5 (no band less than 6.0); TOEFL iBT- 90 overall (min 20 in Writing); PTE Academic - 58 Overall (min 50 in communicative skills); Cambridge English - 180.

Admission to the Master of Science (180 or 240 credits) requires you to have
a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Computer Science, or close equivalent, with a minimum B average in the majoring 300-level courses; or
will have been awarded or qualified for either the Bachelor of Science with Honours or the Postgraduate Diploma in Science and Technology in Computer Science, having achieved a B grade average over the contributing courses.
Admission to the 120 credit Master of Science requires you to have a minimum B average for either of the following:
a Bachelor of Science (Honours) with an endorsement in Computer Science; or
a Postgraduate Diploma in Science with an endorsement in Computer Science
Students from a country where English is not the first language, must obtain a minimum English Language competency level.
IELTS score of 6.5 (no band less than 6.0)
TOEFL iBT score of 90 overall (min 20 in Writing)
PTE Academic score of 58 Overall (min 50 in communicative skills)
Cambridge English score of 176 overall and all bands 169 or better
