The Master of Applied Statistics is a high-quality programme combining taught and research courses at postgraduate level. It is a 180 credit qualification able to be completed in 18 months full time.

Practical relevance
As a Massey Master of Applied Statistics student you will learn the professional practice of statistics, and the quantitative skills to conduct robust statistical analyses that are effective in the real world.
You will gain competence in the use of statistical software, including the R package. You will graduate with the skills to draw appropriate conclusions from a statistical analysis and be able to communicate them to both a statistical or non-statistical audience.

Structure
A master’s qualification is made up of two parts. The first part gives you good knowledge and skills that will help you with the research part of your qualification. You must pass Part One before you can progress to Part Two.
For progression to Part Two of the Master of Applied Statistics, a B+ Grade Average is needed for the first 90 credits undertaken for Part One.

An appropriate undergraduate degree from a recognised tertiary institution is required. English Language Requirements: IELTS - 6.5 (no band less than 6.0); TOEFL iBT- 90 overall (min 20 in Writing); PTE Academic - 58 Overall (min 50 in communicative skills); Cambridge English - 180.

Admission to the Master of Applied Statistics requires you to have a bachelor degree, with a major in Statistics, or equivalent, with a minimum B grade average over the qualifying highest level (majoring 300-level) courses.
Students from a country where English is not the first language, must obtain a minimum English Language competency level.
IELTS score of 6.5 (no band less than 6.0)
TOEFL iBT score of 90 overall (min 20 in Writing)
PTE Academic score of 58 Overall (min 50 in communicative skills)
Cambridge English score of 176 overall and all bands 169 or better
