WHAT IS IT LIKE? The Master of Agriculture is a professional masters programme, specifically tailored for people working in the primary industries who may be seeking an appointment to a senior position or taking on a leadership role in an agricultural-related industry. Choose from a wide range of themes Master of Agriculture (Equine) students are able to select from a wide range of equine subjects including growth, development, training, diseases and care of the equine athlete. Massey University has very good equine industry contacts, facilitating research with a commercial context. Collaboration between the University and adjacent Crown Research Institutes offers unrivalled advantages to postgraduate students’ access to specialised skills, equipment and networking opportunities. Wide range of equine facilities You will have access to a wide range of facilities and services including the Large Animal Teaching Unit, an equine treadmill and clinical facilities operated by the Institute of Veterinary, Animal and Biomedical Sciences, such as X-ray and computer tomography (CT). The Massey University Equestrian Centre is available for use by equine postgraduate students. Facilities include an all-weather arena, covered yards and grazing areas. We are the only university in New Zealand where you can bring your horse with you to campus! Careers Complementing your existing skills with advanced knowledge, analytical, project management and communication skills will be valued by a wide range of equine organisations particularly in supervisory and management roles. The primary industries are a growing sector and there are great employment and business opportunities for suitably qualified graduates. Master of Agriculture (Equine) structure You will follow a parts-based course of study, which shall consist of courses totalling at least 180 credits, comprising Part One and Part Two as defined by the Schedule. This may include no more than 30 credits of special topic courses and no more than 30 credits of professional development (5 credit) courses. Your qualification includes a research report to the value of 60 credits.
