Turn your fascination for space into a career in astrophysics and radio astronomy. Study the Astronomy major in the Bachelor of Science.
High-performance computing and broadband networking are central to modern astronomy and space science. AUT’s Warkworth Observatory is linked to New Zealand’s most powerful super computers and has the only radio telescopes in the country. That’s why AUT’s Institute for Radio Astronomy and Space Research (IRASR) can process enormous amounts of data from deep space, used for cutting-edge research in astrophysics and earth science.
The Astronomy major covers the latest developments in astronomy and space science, spherical astronomy, celestial mechanics, theoretical astrophysics and mathematical physics. You can work with IRASR during your study.
