Prepare for higher-level study in construction and architectural studies. This pathway is designed to prepare you for either the Bachelor of Architectural Studies or the Bachelor of Construction, available in construction management and quantity surveying. It covers a variety of subjects including measurement and algebra, documentation and skills for academic study. Please note: the majority of courses within this programme are only available in Christchurch. Please check with the Department of Engineering and Architectural Studies for more information. Programme structure To complete this Certificate you are required to complete a minimum total of 60 credits. To be a full time student you need to maintain a workload of 120 credits per year. STUDY PATHWAYS As a certificate graduate you can progress your studies at Ara with the Bachelor of Architectural Studies or Bachelor of Construction with specialisations in construction management or quantity surveying. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES The certificate will introduce you to architectural studies or construction management/quantity surveying and prepare you for further study by developing your skills for academic study. Careers leading from the architectural studies or construction degree qualifications include construction manager, site manager, project manager, contracts supervisor, quantity surveyor, estimator/cost planner and procurement manager or working as a team member in an established architectural practice. You may also choose to continue your studies to become a registered architect.
