This six-month programme is designed to build your skills for long term academic and career success by ensuring the essential layers of learning are in place. It covers a variety of subjects aimed at preparing you for the Diploma in Computer Aided Design, the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering or the New Zealand Certificate in Study and Career Preparation Level 4, which then leads to the Bachelor of Engineering Technology in civil, mechanical or electrical engineering. You'll take core courses designed to equip you with fundamental mathematical and academic skills, then a selection of courses specifically required to advance in your chosen pathway. Programme structure To complete this Certificate you are required to complete a minimum total of 60 credits. To be a full time student you need to maintain a workload of 120 credits per year. STUDY PATHWAYS The New Zealand Certificate in Study and Career Preparation Level 3 (Engineering Pathway) leads directly to the Diploma in Computer Aided Design and the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering. It will also prepare you for the New Zealand Certificate in Study and Career Preparation Level 4, which is required to enrol in the Bachelor of Engineering Technology. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES This certificate will prepare you for further study by developing your basic and general academic skills before you embark on full time diploma or degree programmes.
