Our approach is underpinned by established social work knowledge, professional skills and values and draws on theoretical frameworks from related disciplines in the social sciences and the humanities. Our capable, dedicated and enthusiastic staff possess a wealth of expertise and experience acquired from practice and research in the UK and abroad in areas such as: social work with a range of service user groups; social inclusion and human rights; health and psychosocial well-being; and professional practice. Keele has a long tradition of providing social work and offers a research-informed and critically reflective approach to education and practice. We offer an excellent range of practice placements (including, for example, in children and families, older people and mental health) and our highly regarded skill based learning is led by social work practitioners and people who use services. Graduates from the Masters programme have consistently demonstrated high rates of progression into relevant employment. Our MA programme prepares you for employment as a professionally qualified social worker and lays the foundation for your continuing professional and academic development. The programme will provide you with an academically rigorous education, focusing on critical, research and evaluative skills and full preparation to practise contemporary social work. In order to qualify, you will undertake a range of academic and practical assessments.
