专业简介
Indonesia is one of Australia's biggest and most important neighbours. Study Indonesian at Monash and then contribute to this key relationship with a rewarding career in translation, journalism, development, education or foreign affairs.
Monash has a long history – over 50 years – of teaching Indonesian, and one of Australia's biggest Indonesian libraries. Our engaging and dedicated teachers cover language, at three different entry levels, as well as history, society and culture.
We encourage you to take your studies to Indonesia, where you can undertake highly respected programs in language, journalism, development studies and education.

We offer three entry levels for our language studies, so if you've undertaken Indonesian at school, or have some Indonesian-language skills, you'll take an online language placement test to ensure you're in the most appropriate class.
We'll then take you through at your level, guiding you to progress towards a high level of communication in both standard and colloquial Indonesian. Units on society, culture and the arts broaden your knowledge and understanding.
Studying a language gives you more than the language. It offers you the unique opportunity to truly learn intercultural communication and to think broadly as you learn first hand about linguistic and cultural differences. It will challenge you to learn more about your own language and culture.
Our teachers use online materials, our Indonesian library, and links to music, film and international studies to assist your learning. You'll develop a rich understanding of the interaction between culture and language, with reference to history, performing arts, journalism, literature and translation.
You'll have the amazing opportunity to study at Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, taking one level of in-country study in intensive mode (normally six weeks). You'll credit this study towards your Monash degree while gaining valuable insight into Indonesian life.
Indonesia has around 250 million people and 17,000 islands. It is of great cultural, political and economic significance to the countries of the Asia Pacific region. Immerse yourself in this diverse and important world with our Indonesian studies major
