The combination of Economics and Global Sustainable Development is a natural one since both fields are concerned with well-being and the allocation of finite resources. Historically, economic development has had little regard for environmental sustainability and social justice and yet, economic policy at the core of many potential solutions to issues of sustainable development. On this course you will be critically analysing economic models and theories of sustainable development through quantitative and qualitative approaches. Meanwhile, your studies with Global Sustainable Development will empower you to consider the human and environmental costs and implications of development. You will consider current problems of sustainability from many different perspectives, understand their complexity and learn to use a variety of approaches to think creatively about potential solutions You will ask critical questions about the nature of economic growth, how its benefits are often unevenly distributed, and what measures can be successfully implemented to build a sustainable future for all.
