This course is for you if you wish to study Accounting and Finance at Warwick, but do not meet the requirements for direct entry to either of our three-year BSc degree courses. The Foundation Year prepares you for degree-level study at WBS and gives students the opportunity to build their knowledge about business, improve some key skills we have found to be important to success during the undergraduate degree, and spend a year getting used to the university environment. We provide a diverse programme of events and activities, such as off campus visits to businesses, guest lectures, careers workshops, and service projects, that build your confidence and can be experiences you draw from when you move on to degree level study. You will need drive and dedication to your studies to progress through the course but will receive a great deal of support from our dedicated team of academic faculty, personal tutors, former foundation year student mentors, and our administrative staff. You will be assessed through a combination of end of year examinations and on-going assessments, which may include essays, research assignments, projects, case study analysis, class tests, presentations and group work. Our dedicated WBS Careers Plus team provides specialised careers services solely for WBS students including: 1-2-1 careers coaching; Career planning and preparation workshops; Employer events; Work placements and internships. We organise and facilitate employer events on summer internships, year-in-industry placements and graduate opportunities. We also host employer-led skills workshops and run informal networking sessions. Bespoke employer events organised specifically for our students have seen the likes of EY, L’Oréal, Aldi, Johnson & Johnson, Royal Bank of Scotland, Grant Thornton UK LLP, Accenture and Aston Martin visit WBS, providing students with great networking opportunities and links to top local, national and international brands.
