Overview
Speech pathologists assess, diagnose, treat and provide management and advocacy services to people with communication or swallowing disorders.
People with communication disorders may have difficulties in speech, language, voice, fluency, reading and spelling.
The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 9.
Career outcomes
Graduates practice in hospitals, community health centres, private practice, schools, rehabilitation centres and aged-care centres. Graduates can also work in areas such as health promotion and teaching, and consulting, in communication and presentation. Employment opportunities also exist in specialized centres helping people with a hearing impairment, cerebral palsy and intellectual disability.
Professional recognition
The Master of Speech Pathology is accredited by Speech Pathology Australia (SPA). Graduates of the Master of Speech Pathology may apply for membership with the SPA. Membership may be subject to additional or ongoing requirements beyond completion of the degree. Please contact the relevant professional body for details.

Applicants must have an Australian Bachelor's degree in any discipline, or approved international equivalent. English Language Requirements: IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0; TOEFL Paper-based Test - Overall score of 575 with 5 or better in TWE (Test of Written English); TOEFL Internet based (iBT): Overall 79 with 13 in Reading, 12 in Listening, 18 in Speaking and 21 in Writing, Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE): Overall score of 58 with no communicative skill score less than 50, Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): 176 with no less than 169 in any component, Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): 176 with no less than 169 in any component.
国际学生入学条件
The minimum entry requirement is successful completion of an Australian Bachelor degree (or its equivalent). Successful applicants are required to have at least a 75% (or equivalent) Weighted Average Mark (WAM) in the last two years of their bachelor's degree or H2A in their honours year qualification.
