Overview
The two-year Master of Professional Accounting is suitable if you have an undergraduate degree without an accounting major. This degree helps you develop your understanding of accounting, economics, management and related areas. It is a suitable course for people interested in changing their career paths or broadening the options in their existing field in, for example, engineering, medicine, science or the arts.
The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 9.
Career outcomes
As a graduate, you are likely to find accounting positions in large and small organizations in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. You may also choose to work in public accounting, specializing in auditing, financial advising or taxation. Typical roles include tax assessor, auditor, accountant, export adviser, and inventory analyst.
Professional recognition
The Master of Professional Accounting is accredited by CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ), and, on the Melbourne campus, by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). Students are required to complete specific subjects in order to graduate with the CAANZ accredited qualification. Professional registration may require an application to the professional body and may have additional or ongoing requirements beyond the completion of the degree. Graduates of the Master of Professional Accounting may apply for membership with the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) and London's Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Applicants must have an Australian Bachelor's degree in any discipline, or approved international equivalent. English Language Requirements: IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0; TOEFL Paper-based Test - Overall score of 575 with 5 or better in TWE (Test of Written English); TOEFL Internet based (iBT): Overall 79 with 13 in Reading, 12 in Listening, 18 in Speaking and 21 in Writing, Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE): Overall score of 58 with no communicative skill score less than 50, Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): 176 with no less than 169 in any component, Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): 176 with no less than 169 in any component.
国际学生入学条件
The minimum entry requirement is successful completion of an Australian Bachelor degree (or its equivalent). Prior learning developed through relevant work experience or professional accreditation, where it is deemed to be at least equivalent to that obtained through a Bachelor degree, may be considered. In making an offer to an applicant, the University will give consideration to a range of factors to determine whether an applicant has demonstrated the capacity to work at a Master's level, including academic record, English proficiency, and/or employment experience. (Optional) The Bachelor degree (or equivalent) must be deemed cognate to gain entry to a 1.5 year Master degree, otherwise, the applicant will be considered for a 2 year Master degree program.
