Overview Nanotechnology - understanding, creating and controlling events on the scale of nanometres (millionth of a millimetre) - is an emerging field which aims to understand and exploit the science of the very small. It covers a wide range of areas including semiconductors, where it is hoped that very small components will continue the increase in computational speed predicted by Moore's Law. Chemical systems expect nanotechnology to provide sophisticated sensors for chemicals at low concentrations, with applications to biological systems. Biologists seek means of manipulating and sensing biological processes within cells. This course has a strong research focus. You will work in state-of-the-art research laboratories equipped with world class fabrication and characterization resources. The qualification awarded on graduation is recognized in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 9. Career outcomes Career opportunities exist in a diverse range of sectors, including emerging nanotechnology ventures, advanced materials, semiconductor and microelectronics businesses, advanced medical diagnostics, mineral processing, and businesses involving chemicals, polymers, or surface coatings. Professional recognition Depending on major or subject choice, graduates of the Master of Nanotechnology may apply for membership with the Australian Institute of Physics (AIP). English Language Requirements: IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0; TOEFL Paper-based Test - Overall score of 575 with 5 or better in TWE (Test of Written English); TOEFL Internet based (iBT): Overall 79 with 13 in Reading, 12 in Listening, 18 in Speaking and 21 in Writing, Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE): Overall score of 58 with no communicative skill score less than 50, Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): 176 with no less than 169 in any component, Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): 176 with no less than 169 in any component. 国际学生入学条件 An Australian Bachelor's degree, or approved international equivalent, containing a major in physics or equivalent. You should have obtained a minimum average of 65 per cent in the third year or have reached an equivalent standard as judged by the Course Coordinator.
