Overview
Social scientists curious and questioning with an insatiable thirst for knowledge contribute to our comprehension of the world's biggest issues and formulate responses to them. Law specialists expert communicators, researchers and logical thinkers have a strong sense of justice and perform as responsible professionals in the community. This double degree will develop your social research and policy skills, as well as your understanding of legal principles in areas of key importance to the social sciences such as constitutional law, contract law, family law and international law. You'll also investigate areas of contemporary concern such as consumer law, environmental law, health law and information technology law.
KEY FEATURES
This course has a strong emphasis on social research design, methods, practice and application across a range of data analysis techniques and technologies.
You'll develop an understanding of issues in culturally diverse social environments in local and global contexts.
You'll undertake an internship with one of our research partners, which will provide on-the-job training and the opportunity to work on a research project before graduating.
You'll develop a sound understanding of legal doctrine as well as an awareness of the role of law in society and a developed sense of social responsibility.
Upon graduation, you'll be entitled to admission for professional practice in law in New South Wales subject to completion of a recognised course in Practical Legal Training, which you'll be qualified for after you complete this course.

Applicants must have a recognised secondary (high school) qualification. English Language Requirements: IELTS Academic: Overall 6.5; TOEFL iBT: 83, Reading 19, Writing 24, Listening 12, Speaking 18; Pearson test of English (PTE) academic general score of 58; Cambridge English: advanced (CAE) general score of 180; CPE: Score of 180; Occupational English test (OET) score of Grade B or above.

Students will need to have completed one or more of the following academic qualifications: A recognized senior secondary school qualification or university entrance examination, such as the New South Wales Higher School Certificate (NSW HSC) or other equivalent Australian or overseas high school qualification; A recognized university Foundation course; A recognized 2 or 3-year Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree; At least one year of a university degree from a recognized institution.
You may satisfy the English language requirements if you have completed: senior secondary studies equivalent to the NSW HSC; one year of Australian or comparable tertiary study in a country of qualification
IELTS of 6.5 overall with minimum 6.0 in each band, or equivalent.
