Overview A child's early years are key to predicting their success in school and life. Their early learning experiences are critical determining factors for their emotional, social and intellectual development. When they're exposed to high-quality educational opportunities, their trajectory for success is greatly enhanced. Macquarie has a strong reputation and long history in early childhood teaching and research, and you'll be taught by active researchers in early childhood. KEY FEATURES This course will qualify you to work as a teacher with children aged from birth to 12 years. You'll have access to training through Macquarie's Mia Child and Family Study Centre. From your first year, you'll undertake professional experience in early childhood settings. This allows you to make connections between theory and real-world practice. This course is available on campus, via distance education, or through a combination of both (some on-campus study is compulsory). Recognition of Prior Learning is given if you hold a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent, eg, Diploma of Children's Services or Diploma of Community Services (Centre-based Care). If you don't achieve an HSC Band 5 result in 3 subjects (including English), you can enter into the Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) and complete one session (4 units). Once successfully completed, you can transfer into the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education) (Birth to 12). ACCREDITATION Graduates are eligible for accreditation to teach in government and non-government schools. Accreditation had been applied for to meet anticipated new government policy requirements around entry to teacher education programs. The degree is recognised nationally and internationally by early childhood education providers. Graduates are also accredited by the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA). SUITABLE FOR Those who wish to qualify as an Early Childhood Teacher as well as a Primary School Teacher.
