Overview
In addition to teacher education degrees, the Institute of Early Childhood offers the opportunity to study a range of units that will enable you to major in early childhood studies.
This major is not a teaching qualification, but may supplement your study or experience in other social sciences including behavioural science, psychology and sociology.

You will study the development of children with a focus on young children's learning and experience of the arts, literacy, mathematics, social inclusion, science and technology.
You will gain an understanding of the management principles and skills necessary for leadership positions in children's services.

Applicants must have a recognised secondary (high school) qualification. English Language Requirements: IELTS Academic: Overall 6.5; TOEFL iBT: 83, Reading 19, Writing 24, Listening 12, Speaking 18; Pearson test of English (PTE) academic general score of 58; Cambridge English: advanced (CAE) general score of 180; CPE: Score of 180; Occupational English test (OET) score of Grade B or above.

Students will need to have completed one or more of the following academic qualifications: A recognized senior secondary school qualification or university entrance examination, such as the New South Wales Higher School Certificate (NSW HSC) or other equivalent Australian or overseas high school qualification; A recognized university Foundation course; A recognized 2 or 3-year Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree; At least one year of a university degree from a recognized institution.
You may satisfy the English language requirements if you have completed: senior secondary studies equivalent to the NSW HSC; one year of Australian or comparable tertiary study in a country of qualification
IELTS of 6.5 overall with minimum 6.0 in each band, or equivalent.
