专业简介
Conservation Biology is the study of the Earth's biodiversity and is concerned with managing and protecting species and ecosystems. Conservation Biologists work with government and non-government agencies to explore the interaction of scientific research with policy and management to develop strategies to minimise the impact of humans on their environment.
The Bachelor of Science (Conservation Biology) is a practical degree that will give you the knowledge and skills to become an accomplished conservation biologist. Our collaborations with industry and government researchers will provide you with real-world experience in land management and conservation, leading to valuable links with potential employers. You will be trained to achieve a career in government, advising on policy or managing biodiversity, or facilitating and undertaking research for conservation both in Australia and overseas.
What you will study
Your first-year studies in biology, chemistry, and earth and environmental sciences lead to second-year studies in how organisms function, plant and animal ecology, and landscape science. In third-year, your studies will focus on research training and experience in conservation biology and ecology. On completion, high performing students considering further study or a career in research should consider the Bachelor of Science (Honours) program. This one-year degree offers students a pathway to expand their knowledge in conservation biology and achieve their research aspirations.
Course Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this major students will be able to:
Exercise critical thinking and judgement in applying conservation concepts and knowledge of biological systems to inform the implementation and development of policies for conservation.
Use their knowledge of the biology of organisms to develop appropriate management policies or research questions.
Demonstrate skills in analysing, interpreting and synthesising data, methodologies and other information.
Demonstrate rudimentary research skills in investigating problems in conservation biology.
Exercise critical thinking and independent problem solving in experimental design.
Communicate knowledge and ideas clearly and coherently to others in both written and spoken form.
Apply knowledge and skills of conservation biology to solving current problems in either a professional context or in research.

English language requirements: IELTS - 6.0; TOEFL - 79, Pearson PTE - 57.
国际学生入学条件
Assumed Knowledge: Biology and Mathematics or Chemistry and Mathematics. Applicants need to have achieved the required score in a qualification equivalent to the completion of 13 years of schooling in Australia. In order to succeed in their chosen course, it is assumed they have completed relevant subjects in their senior high school studies or other relevant qualifications. This is particularly important for degrees which have a strong basis in Mathematics or Science. English Language Requirements: IELTS Academic Overall Score of 6.0, reading 6.0, writing 6.0, listening 5.0, speaking 5.0; TOEFL (Internet-based) score of 79, reading 18, writing 18, listening 16, speaking 16; Cambridge English: CAE and CPE score of 169; PTE Academic overall score of 57 (Reading and Writing 57, Speaking and Listening 50).
