Let the Bachelor of Illustration at Melbourne Polytechnic draw you in. Develop your practical skills and knowledge to a high level and engage in research based practice that will enhance your capacity to see the world in a different way. This unique degree also addresses business practice and opportunities for entrepreneurship in today’s creative arts industry. Drawn to illustrate Research is an essential component of the Bachelor of Illustration. You will investigate a wide range of visual art practices and draw on history, technology, commerce, media and cultural studies as you analyze and critique the development of illustration and visual language. Let creativity lead to a career New avenues of creativity will be explored in this course. As well as addressing traditional practices such as publishing, advertising, promotion and editorial work, illustration now embraces many areas of contemporary visual culture. Graduate illustrators can look to diverse career options in new media, film, urban design and art. You may realize your potential for personal expression and social commentary through the creation and production of comics and graphic novels. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) You can seek RPL where your work or qualifications of an advanced and related nature have been undertaken. Academic Credit is granted on a case-by-case basis, according to our Academic Credit policy and associated procedures. Applications for Academic Credit will be assessed by relevant Melbourne Polytechnic academics and where appropriate, industry experts. Code: HEVAILL Modes of Delivery: Studio Practice, Lecture, Research Assessment Methods Various forms of assessment may be used including portfolio, projects work, research, essays and presentations. Units of Study Credit points are a basic measure of student workload. All subjects are given a credit point value. Most subjects at Melbourne Polytechnic are 12 credit points. A normal full-time annual workload is 96 credit points. The academic year is divided into two main semesters; full-time students usually enrol in 48 credit points each semester, part time students usually enrol in 24 credit points each semester or less. Career Pathways The career opportunities exist in areas of self-employment (small business), advertising, publishing, new media areas of content and games, film and animation, creative directorship, creative consultancy, event management, exhibition design and curating.
