Course overview The Bachelor of Arts-Bachelor of Science gives you the opportunity to specialise in two different study areas. Combining majors from Arts and Science will teach you to access a deeper understanding of scientific principles, while balancing them with critical thinking skills and knowledge gained through studying the humanities. Some subjects in Arts are available online, giving you greater flexibility while you study. You will enjoy field trips to fantastic locations, with easy access to the World Heritage regions of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, and the rainforests of the Wet Tropics. Depending on your choice of science major, you will have access to state-of-the-art laboratories and research vessels. Your Arts subjects will develop your communication and research skills, and will learn to critically analyse information. Career opportunities There are many varied pathways for graduates of this joint degree. There are a number of possible combinations of majors – for example you could study a language that can lead to work with scientists from different countries and cultures, or study media and writing with environmental science or geography, environmental earth science and sociology, and even combine politics or archaeology with marine biology. As a Science-Arts graduate you may pursue careers in management, or as a consultant or technician in a wide range of organisations in the private sector, research and government departments.
