The Bachelor of Laws / Bachelor of Aviation Management equips students with the skills to work in commercial and general legal practice and in aviation management. All students undertake three law-related professional experience placements of 20 days each.
Gain insight into how airlines and airports operate. Learn how aircraft are designed, operated and maintained; why aircraft follow certain routes; and how airlines and airports collaborate with supply chain partners to get passengers to their destination safely and profitably.
The course covers legal principles and practices, including regulatory compliance and contract law, which are of critical importance in the aviation industry.
Graduates will have a sound professional understanding of the aviation industry and associated environments, and skills in organisational, regulatory, safety, technical and business management.
Course structure
Successful completion of the Bachelor of Laws / Bachelor of Aviation Management requires students to complete units of study to the value of 500 credit points. All units of study are valued at 12.5 credit points unless otherwise stated.
Course learning outcomes
The Bachelor of Laws / Bachelor of Aviation Management provides an accredited qualification in law whilst enabling learning to be contextualised to the discipline of aviation. The degree also provides students with a broad, well-rounded legal education that inculcates an understanding of the role the law plays in our society and of how it can assist Australia as a trading nation. Graduates will also have a sound professional understanding of the aviation industry and its associated environment, and skills in organisational, regulatory, safety, technical and business management.
Upon successfully completing Bachelor of Laws, the students will be able to:
describe and demonstrate the application of the fundamental areas of Australian law and the Australian legal system and of the principles and doctrines that underpin them
describe and demonstrate the application of ethical and professional responsibility in the practice of the law and a commitment to the pursuit of justice
analyse and evaluate the interdisciplinary contexts in which legal issues arise and the disciplines and policy considerations that influence the content and operation of the law
describe and compare the international legal order and the law and legal systems of Australia’s major trading partners
critically evaluate events or factual situations, identify the legal issues to which they give rise and develop and articulate appropriate and creative responses
undertake and critically evaluate research from a variety of sources to make judgements to solve complex legal problems with intellectual independence
demonstrate effective and persuasive communication capabilities with legal and non-legal audiences
communicate proficiently in professional practice to a variety of audiences, function as an effective member or leader of a diverse team and critically reflect on individual performance and professional development.
Upon successfully completing the Bachelor of Aviation Management, students will be able to:
demonstrate coherent understanding and application of the body of knowledge of aviation management and appropriate international and domestic regulatory frameworks
demonstrate broad and coherent knowledge of Aviation Human Factors, Aviation Management and Aviation Technology to critically analyse and solve problems and implement solutions in global professional airline, airport and aviation practice
define and integrate theoretical principles applicable to business and apply those principles in a range of practices

Other English Language Requirements accepted: Cambridge English: Advanced Scores: 58 with no less than Borderline in each skill; TOEFL Paper Based: 550 (minimum TWE 5.0); PTE Academic: 58 with no communicative skill score less than 50; CEF (Common European Framework): B2; English for Academic Purposes (Level 5): Overall 70% (all skills 65% or above).

Swinburne’s English for Academic Purposes (EAP 5 Advanced level) with overall 70%, all skills 65%

Pearson (PTE) minimum score of 58 (no communicative skills less than 50)
