A behavioural scientist values human diversity and knows how to work collaboratively with individuals, groups and communities to advance their goals. This program looks at how people respond to various challenges in their careers, family or community life. Our students use specialist knowledge developed in the disciplines of psychology, sociology, political science and cultural studies to promote overall social wellbeing. Alternatively, you can study Behavioural Science as Major in a Bachelor of Science or as a standalone three-year Bachelor of Behavioural Science degree. The study of Behavioural Science is based on the premise that everyone is entitled to social justice and equity. This Major is concerned with the practical application of such principles to all aspects of human interaction. Our program equips students to promote those values, focusing on the strengths and competencies of individuals and communities. Behavioural Science promotes the concept of wellbeing for the individual person and the many and varied groups that he or she might belong to, as well as advocating for social justice at the political, cultural and economic levels of society. Our graduates may follow diverse career paths in the private and public sectors, with many working in community development, policy development and corporate liaison. Work Integrated Learning: When you study the Behavioural Science Major, you will complete an internship of approximately 90 hours that allows you to put the theory into practice in a workplace environment. You may undertake specific projects or tasks, engage in directed research, facilitate groups, write reports and/or develop projects or program initiatives during your internship. The Bachelor of Arts degree has the flexibility to allow you to study a Second Major in another discipline such as Politics & International Relations, Journalism, Film & Screen Production, Environmental Science, Social Justice or History. Behavioural Science can also be studied as a Major in the Bachelor of Communications & Media or as a Second Major in the Bachelor of Science.
